From Broadway to Little Compton: Community Theater's Latest Production Debuts
A seasoned director shows off local talent in upcoming variety show.

The Little Compton Community Theatre will debut its newest musical production this weekend.
The curtains open on “From Hollywood to Broadway,” a review that includes a variety of musical styles, this Friday, July 1. Additional performances will be held Saturday, July 2, and the following weekend, July 8 and 9. All shows are at 7 p.m. A dinner is scheduled to accompany the July 2 performance for $60 per ticket.
Bobby Sylvia, a local theater veteran who has plenty of experience on the Little Compton stage, is directing the production.

“I’m excited about the diversity of the music,” Sylvia said. “It’s a music lover’s show.”
"From Hollywood to Broadway" includes original compositions, musical skits, selections from musical theater and rearranged pop songs. Proceeds from the show will benefit the .

Sylvia has performed in the area for years, including six shows with the Little Compton Community Theatre. He brings his acting experience to the stage when he directs.
“I like to work with as many groups as possible,” he said. “As an actor, I know what kind of direction works for me and I try to bring that to rehearsals.”
The show will feature singers, songwriters, composers and musicians from the Tiverton-Little Compton area. Audience members can expect to see a bit of everything: from original songs to theater classics, from Alicia Keys to the Dixie Chicks. The variety and local flair is what makes this show unique.
