LC Police Log: Hurt Deer, Loud Music, "Missing" Elderly Woman Just Wasn't Home

Reports from the Little Compton Police Department for the period of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.

Incidents:

On Sept. 28, a resident turned in a large box of old ammunition they no longer wanted.

On Sept. 29, a resident said a surfer left a dog in a car at the Town Landing. Police checked and found the dog to be OK. As police were at the scene, the owner came out of the water and spoke with police.

On Sept. 30, a resident said while traveling along Long Highway at Pottersville Road, all four of her rims were bent due to large potholes.

On Oct. 1, police got a report of an elderly woman on Simmons Road who was not answering her door. Police investigated and discovered that she wasn’t home.

On Oct. 1 at around 10:06 p.m., a resident turned in to police a Verizon LG phone found lying in the road on Amesbury Lane. It was placed in the lost and found.

On Oct. 3, police were dispatched to Sakonnet Point Road for a report of two chickens being killed by dogs. One of the dogs was captured and transported to the Sakonnet Vet, police said. The owner was located and “resolved the matter with the owner of the chickens.”

On Oct. 4, police got a complaint from a resident about hunters off West Main Road. When police arrived, the state Department of Environmental Management was on scene. The hunters were located and the matter was resolved, police said.

Also on Oct. 4, a resident turned in a woman’s handbag found on the side of the road at 11:56 a.m. The owner was contacted and came in later to pick it up.

Police responded to a Burchard Ave. house at 5:38 p.m. on Oct. 4 for a report of loud music. Police said as they arrived at the house a band was packing it up for the evening.

On Oct. 4 at 7:25 p.m., police euthanized a deer that was injured and on the side of Stone Church Road. The DEM was later contacted to retrieve the animal.
