Little Compton Police: Flip Flip Stuck on Gas Pedal Causes Crash, Needle Found

Plus, a juvenile crashes after losing control in a puddle of water.

On June 18, officers were dispatched to Long Highway at the town line at around 3:17 p.m. for a report of an accident. Police came upon a juvenile operator who had left the road and struck a tree. The juvenile said that he lost control due to flooding in the roaad. He was not hurt but the car had to be towed from the scene with heavy damage.

On June 17, an Old Bull Lane resident reported that a construction company started work at her residence but never returned to finish, even after being paid. She was concerned it was a scam. Two days later, she told police that they did in fact return to finish the job.

On June 18, police responded to Old Main Road at around 10:46 a.m. to resolve a neighbor dispute over boundaries. Police helped talk out a solution.

On June 18 at around 1:50 p.m., police responded to a West Main Road residence for a report of an unwanted dog. The resident said someone dropped the dog off after it was found wandering in the road. Police tried to find the owner, but were unable to and eventually brought the animal to the Sakonnet Vet.

On June 19, police responded to a Patten Drive residence at around 1:23 a.m. for a report of an unwanted person at the house. Police helped resolve the matter and the subject was picked up by a cab.

On June 22, police responded to the commons after a Little Compton woman and a Vero Beach, Fla., man collided while driving in the parking lot near the post office. Nobody was hurt and both cars suffered minor damage.

On June 22, police responded to the commons after a 19-year-old Charlestown, Mass., man crashed into a parked car. Police said the man claimed his flip flop got stuck on the gas pedal and he left the roadway and into the parked car.

Nobody was hurt but the man’s car had to be towed from the scene. The car he hit was still drivable but suffered damage.

On June 25, a resident turned in to police headquarters a wallet he found laying in the parking lot at Simmons Mill Pond. The owner was contacted and came to pick it up.

On June 26, police responded to a trespass complaint at around 12:54 p.m. at Warrens Point Beach Club. A report was taken.

Also on June 26, an Old Stone Church Road resident told police she found a used hypodermic needle in her front yard. Police responded and seized it.

On June 28, an officer on patrol found a trailer plate in the road. It was brought back to the station and the owner was notified.

On June 28 at around 11:52 a.m., police responded to Warrens Beach Club for a report of people attempting to trespass. Upon arrival, police saw that the suspects had taken off and couldn’t be located.
