Little Compton Police Log: DUI, Donuts Damage Lawn, $4,000 Fraud

The drunk driver allegedly came "within inches" of hitting a parked police cruiser on the side of the road with activated lights.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by Little Compton police. They do not indicate a conviction.

ARRESTS

DUI
Little Compton police charged Jamie Mahan, 50, of 740 Langrange St., Boston, Mass., with driving under the influence on July 11 after she “came within inches” of hitting a parked police car, police said.

Mahan reportedly was driving on Peckham Road when she nearly hit the cruiser, which was parked with its emergency lights activated.

Police said they made the arrest at 11:05 a.m.

DOMESTIC
Police charged Joseph Barboza, 44, of 19 Highland Ave., Little Compton, with domestic vandalism after he allegedly damaged his lawn after an argument.

Police said they arrested Barboza at around 7 a.m. on July 13 for allegedly doing donuts with his car.

INCIDENTS

DRIVEWAY BLOCKED
A Round Pond Road resident told police on July 8 that someone was blocking his driveway making it impossible to get his car out.

Police said they got the call at 6:46 a.m. and eventually found the owner of the offending car. That person said “he parked in a random driveway to go swimming with friends,” police said.

DAMAGE
Police said a 12-foot wood framed gutter was torn off the Benjamin Family Nature Shack owned by the Nature Conservancy sometime over the July 4 weekend.

Police said the incident was reported on July 9.

Someone apparently had burned the gutter in a makeshift fire put.

FRAUD
Police said a Little Compton resident reported on July 12 that someone transferred $4,000 out of his account fraudulently.

Police are investigating.
