Man Charged for Robbing Tiverton CVS at Knifepoint for Cash and Drugs
Police said witnesses outside the store and the staff of the CVS were instrumental in catching the 50-year-old suspect.

A 50-year-old Wrentham, Mass., man is facing robbery and drug charges for robbing a Tiverton CVS at knifepoint and stealing two large bags filled with cash, Oxycodone, Oxycontin and Valium.
Tiverton police said John Barboza, of 5 Cushing Drive, walked into the pharmacy at 500 Main Road at 4:34 p.m. on Aug. 29 wielding the knife and demanded drugs and cash from the pharmacy technicians working there.
He then ran from the store as 911 was called.

Sgt. William Munroe, Officers James McGuinness-Rossi, Vincent Palumbo and Matthew Braun responded and began a search. Witnesses nearby pointed down a side street where Munroe and Palumbo found Barboza hiding in the treeline, police said.
Barboza surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

He is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston on a first-degree robbery charge and three counts of felony drug possession.
“Our sincere thanks to the staff of CVS Pharmacy and citizens who assisted police in apprehending this dangerous individual,” police said in a statement.
