Code Red brings local alerts to your fingertips.

Code Red, an automated call system the town hired in August, has been tested and was put online by Tiverton on Tuesday.

The service alerts subscribers of bad news by text, email and cellphone alert.

“If people want cellphone connectivity with the town, they will have to sign up,” said Town Administrator Matthew Wojcik to The Herald News. “For the most part, this will be for unexpected storms or other emergencies. We will also coordinate with the schools for Amber alerts and with other agencies for silver alerts.”
