Tiverton and Little Compton Recognized by AAA for Traffic Safety
The towns were among several other Rhode Island communities honored at AAA Southern New England's recent awards ceremony.

Tiverton and Little Compton were recently recognized for its traffic safety programs by AAA Southern New England.
AAA Southern New England recognized Rhode Island and several communities during its annual Community Traffic Safety Awards Luncheon at the Providence Marriott.
Communities were awarded for the quality of traffic safety education and enforcement programs and for making it through 2013 with consecutive years without a pedestrian fatality. Community-nominated traffic safety heroes also received recognition.

Tiverton was awarded the Bronze Award for quality of traffic safety and education and enforcement programs and for going four years without a pedestrian fatality. Former Tiverton High School student Emily Machado was honored as a Traffic Safety hero.
Little Compton was recognized for going 24 years without a pedestrian fatality.

SafeKids Rhode Island presented awards to Officer Eugene Chin of the Providence Police Department and David Demick of Sentinel Limo during the luncheon.
The Community Traffic Safety Awards Luncheon also presented a special award to former Executive Director of Mothers Against Driving and current Chief of the state Office on Highway Safety Gabrielle Abbate.
Other towns recognized at the luncheon included Smithfield, Bristol, Scituate, Central Falls, Burrillville, Middletown, Warwick, West Greenwich, Charlestown, Exeter, Barrington, North Providence, Hopkinton, Richmond, Portsmouth, Lincoln, Johnston, West Warwick, Narragansett, Newport, Warren, Woonsocket as well as the Rhode Island State Police.
The nonprofit AAA Southern New England provides local AAA members with travel, insurance, finance and auto-related services.
