Tiverton Photographer's Scenic Shot Wins RIPTA Contest

Tiverton resident Rick Barrette took the shot of Mount Hope Bay at sunset. The photograph will appear on all RIPTA Ride Ten passes for November.

Tiverton resident Rick Barrette is a jack-of-all-trades, as noted in our . However, his landscape photography talents recently earned him one of only six winners statewide in the Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority's 2011 "Rhody 10" photo contest.

Barrette's photo in Tiverton looking west over Mount Hope Bay, toward the Mount Hope Bridge at sunset, will be used on the Rhody Ten ride pass for the month of November, according to Cristy Raposo, RIPTA marketing coordinator. A copy of the photo on the riding pass is attached to this post.

Barrette said he took the remarkable shot on Oct. 20 when he was with his friends. He said they were driving south on Route 24 and his friend was nice enough to drive to one of his favorite spots with a breathtaking view.
