Tiverton Police, Coast Guard Respond To Nanaquaket Pond For Boat Taking On Water
No one was injured. The boat is partially submerged, and the Coast Guard responded to monitor the threat from pollution.

TIVERTON, RI— The Tiverton Fire Department's Marine 14 and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to Nanaquaket Pond around 6:30 Monday morning for a boat taking on water. According to Coast Guard Ensign Nathan Mendes, the boat is a 36-foot cabin cruiser. It was partially submerged when the Coast Guard arrived, but the boat poses no threat of sinking at this time.
The boat is on a mooring ball, and the owner is on scene. There was no search and rescue involved, he said, and no one was injured. The Coast Guard is still on scene assessing the pollution risk. There was debris and a sheen, he said. The owner properly notified authorities about the oil spill, he said.
The Coast Guard is staying on scene to monitor the situation regarding pollution, he said.
