• Stonington, Chariho basketball shines in summer league (thewesterlysun.com) — Westerly boys basketball struggled through the summer league schedule as injuries, graduations, and multi-sport commitments left the Bulldogs short-handed after a solid 15-10 Division I winter. Stonington dominated its Rhode Island summer leagues and Chariho impressed as well, setting up an intriguing high school season with Westerly possibly shifting to Division II after key roster losses.
   

• Owners Sue Rhode Island Over 'Taylor Swift Tax' (upriseri.com) — Owners of high-value properties, including homes in Westerly, are suing Rhode Island to overturn the new "Non-Owner Occupied Property Tax," nicknamed the "Taylor Swift tax." The lawsuit argues the surcharge on million‑dollar second homes is unconstitutional and unfair, while the state says it funds low‑income housing; first payments are due September 15 unless a judge intervenes.
