📰 News we're reading

• Westerly School Committee Tables Communications Policy (upriseri.com) — Westerly families should know the School Committee has again delayed adopting its electronic communications policy while it seeks more technical details, and it approved temporary stipends for administrators covering superintendent duties. A member also raised serious concerns that Dunn's Corners School's new playground lacks wheelchair access, while reports highlighted a free arts program for middle schoolers, book donations for homeless students, and ongoing bus driver shortages.

• Westerly girls tennis rebuilding (thewesterlysun.com) — Westerly High's girls tennis team is stepping into a tough rebuilding year after being bumped up to Division I and losing most of its former championship core. With many players new to the sport and enrollment down, coaches are focusing less on wins and more on developing younger Bulldogs like new top singles players Isabella Muccio and Olivia Cicero for future seasons.
