• School bus strike threat could disrupt transportation in 9 Rhode Island districts (turnto10.com) — School bus drivers serving West Warwick and eight other Rhode Island districts have authorized a strike, raising the risk of major transportation disruptions during the first week of school. Union leaders and bus company First Student negotiated Wednesday and report progress, but no deal yet, leaving West Warwick families to watch closely for possible last-minute changes to student transportation. 
• Hours-long standoff ends peacefully in Coventry (coastalabc.com) — A regional SWAT team serving West Warwick and Coventry helped peacefully end a standoff in Coventry on Wednesday after a man in mental health crisis mentioned having a weapon. Negotiators spent several hours talking with him before he surrendered, and police say no one was injured and the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
