New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) will be the keynoter this evening as the GOP's nominating convention gets underway after an abbreviated opening due to Tropical Storm Issac yesterday.
Christie, himself a frequently discussed presidential contender, has been out early and vocally for former Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA). Tough, polished, and focused can describe this former federal prosecutor who has turned Trenton's politics upside down.
NBC's Today Show featured an interview with Christie this morning, as anchor Matt Lauer tried to lure Christie to share the message he plans on delivering at 10 p.m. EST but to no avail. It should be an interesting high point of this event.
