Responsible Beverage Server Training for Owners, Sellers and Servers

Responsible Beverage Server Certification Training taking place for local businesses and servers on Monday, April 8th at Ciro's Tavern on Cherry.

It's no secret that some youth are trying every trick in the book to access alcohol and the efforts run the gauntlet. From using fake or doctored ID's, to asking older friends or siblings and even waiting by the entrance to liquor stores to ask total strangers, young people can get pretty creative when trying to get their hands on this very dangerous product. We have all seen the negative effects of what happens when they are successful. The ramifications can include injury to themselves or others, dangerous decisions, lude conduct, compromising situations, tragic and sometimes fatal accidents, hefty fines to local businesses and legal action among other things.

For these reasons, there are laws and initiatives in place to help keep our children safe and out of harms way. Initiatives and laws like the current legal drinking age of 21, the licensing procedures every alcohol vendor or serving business in the state of RI must adhere to and the Responsible Beverage Server Training (RBST) each alcohol server must complete by state law. This certification is valid for three years and its goal is to decrease the number of illegal alcohol sales to underage youth and intoxicated patrons through educational programs.

In our continuing efforts to help keep our city and our youth safe, the Woonsocket Prevention Coalition would like to remind all local restaurant owners, managers and servers that the next Responsible Beverage Server training will be held on Monday, April 8th at Ciro's Tavern (42 Cherry Street, Woonsocket) from 6pm-9pm. The cost for the training is $25.00 per person. Any establishments that sent staff members to our Fake ID training on Tuesday, March 19th are eligible to send two (2) staff members free of charge to this upcoming training.
