Cicilline Opens Woonsocket Congressional Office

Release: Mayor, City Council members welcome congressman to new office at City Hall.

U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) opened a Woonsocket Congressional Satellite Office today to serve constituents in northern Rhode Island. The new office will allow Congressman Cicilline and members of his staff to meet regularly with constituents and more easily provide assistance with federal agencies.

“I am looking forward to the opportunities that this office will provide to better serve residents of northern Rhode Island," said Cicilline. "I encourage constituents to contact my Woonsocket office with any concerns they might have. Whether you are looking for help with Social Security, would like to apply to a military academy, or need assistance for your small business, my office is here to serve and ensure that the federal government works for you,” he said.

Mayor Leo Fontaine joined members of the Woonsocket City Council in welcoming the congressman at the official opening Monday morning.

“Congressman Cicilline’s satellite office is a great addition to the Woonsocket City Hall and I extend my welcome to him and his staff," said Fontaine. "The opening of Congressman Cicilline’s office was a perfect opportunity to expand services for Woonsocket residents as well as utilize some of the empty space at City Hall.”

“My family and I appreciate Congressman Cicilline’s efforts to make himself and his staff more accessible; we are pleased that Woonsocket has congressional representation right here in City Hall," said City Council Vice President Dan Gendron. "I think that federal representatives working with city officials in a very close relationship is a great addition to the services offered at City Hall.”

Woonsocket is an important place, and by Congressman Cicilline putting roots here in City Hall, it shows that he recognizes it as an important place. I appreciate it personally and I am sure the city does as well,” said Councilman Christopher Beauchamp.
