CVS Caremark To Hold First Quarter Call

Pharmacy company facing optimistic prospects, some challenges.

The Wall Street Journal reports CVS Caremark, Woonsocket's largest employer, will hold its first quarter conference call Wednesday with investors to discuss the company's performance.

If the past year is any indication, the news may well be good for shareholders. CVS ended 2011 strong, according to WPRI.com. Business blog Financial News reported the company ended its fourth quarter with a 4 percent boost.

Reputation Institute, in partnership with Forbes Media, listed CVS Caremark 25th among the most reputable companies in the U.S., according to a recent CVS press release.

But the news isn't all rosy for CVS. In March, boston.com reports, the company mistakenly sent letters to 3,500 Tufts Health Care Plan members with information about other members' personal information and medical conditions.

Competition may also be heating up for the company, follwing SXC Health Solutions Corp.'s $4.4 billion acquisition of pharmacy benefit manager Catalyst Health Solutions Inc. Chicagobusiness.com reports the combination could help SXC step up its competition with rivals like CVS.
