Harrisville Firefighter Dies Following Burrillville Crash
Ryan Ferris, 39, died Wednesday night following a four-car crash in Burrillville.
BURRILVILLE, R.I. -- A Harrisville firefighter died Wednesday evening after being seriously injured in a four-car crash that afternoon.
The crash happened around 2:40 on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 102 and Route 107. Four vehicles were involved, with two on the road and two others, a Ferris' car and a box truck, off the road, with the car pinned underneath the truck. Burrillville police say four additional fire departments were called to the scene to assist in the extrication.
Once freed, Ferris was flown by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

Three other drivers were injure in the crash, which police say were minor.
There has been an outpouring of support for the fallen firefighter throughout the day on Thursday.

"The Pascoag Fire Department offers sincere, heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters next door at the Harrisville Fire Department on the loss of one of their own in yesterday's motor vehicle collision on Broncos Highway," the Pascoag Fire Department wrote on Facebook. "Please keep them in your thoughts at this difficult time."
The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time by the Burrillville Police Department along with Rhode Island State Police.
