Health Department Orders Woonsocket Doctor To Stop Preparing Chemo Drugs

, 61, practicing oncology and hematology, has been fined $1,500 by the RI Department of Health and ordered to stop preparing chemo-therapeutic drugs at his office.
Stoll, whose business address is 55 Hamlet Ave., has privileges at Landmark Medical Center, and is still licensed to practice medicine, according to Health Department Spokeswoman Dara Chadwick.

According to the Health Department, Stoll received four shipments of chemotherapeutic drugs between 2006 and 2009, and, due to the absence of inventories, invoices or dispensation records, they are considered unaccounted for.Â
Also, an inspector discovered non-sterile items in the area where Stoll was preparing the drugs (a process referred to as compounding) and Stoll decided to volunarily stop preparing chemotherapeutic drugs then, according to a release from the Health Department. Stoll also voluntarily took 12.5 hours of narcotic prescription training.

The findings were listed in an Aug. 29 decision by the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline through its investigative committee, which voted to find Stoll guilty of unprofessional conduct in the matter.
Stoll will remain on probation for two years, and has agreed to not prepare drugs in his office, and to not purchase drugs from another country.
