Last Chance: Businesses Must File Annual Reports

The deadline for Rhode Island's for-profit businesses approaches this week.

We've seen hundreds of events come and go in the community, but how often does one pass you by that you wish you hadn't missed out on? That's where we come in. Each week Woonsocket Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.

This week comes a reminder to business owners in the communtiy: It's time to file your annual reports. The roughly 30,000 for-profit businesses in Rhode Island must file their annual reports by March 31, which approaches this week.

Companies can file via the website until 11:59 p.m. on March 31 and still make the deadline. Business owners who would rather file by mail or in person need to do so by 4:30 p.m. on March 31. Any businesses that fail to file by the March 31 deadline could lose their certificate of incorporation or certificate of authority, making it illegal to conduct business.
