Mayor's Charity Ball Postponed

Woonsocket Mayor Leo Fontaine's office has postponed its 2012 Charity Ball due to lack of response.

A press release distributed to local media this week reads, "...despite our efforts to promote the 2012 Charity Ball, the response to date did not meet our expectations. As such it is announced that the event will be postponed to a future date."

The event was scheduled for April 27 at , as reported in The Woonsocket Call. It was organized to raise funds for a Fourth of July fireworks display in honor of local veterans.

Existing sponsorship money will still be used for the Fourth of July fireworks. Anyone wishing to make a donation for the fireworks display can contact the Mayor’s office at 767-9205.
