'Significant' Nor'easter Likely to Hit Over the Weekend

And wind chills as low as 18 below are expected to hit Providence County on Friday morning.

Another major snowstorm is headed towards Woonsocket and this one might dump another foot of snow on us.

The National Weather Service said there is β€œhigh confidence of a significant snowstorm” that may have blizzard conditions on late Saturday night and Sunday.

Light snow is expected to arrive late Saturday afternoon, but the heavier snow won’t hit until late Saturday night so don’t cancel those Valentine’s Day plans.

Here are The Weather Channel’s snow accumulation predictions for Woonsocket:

  • Saturday morning: 1 to 3 inches
  • Saturday night: 3 to 5 inches
  • Sunday morning: 3 to 5 inches

Providence County will be under a wind chill advisory from early Friday morning until noon.

NWS warns of β€œbitterly cold wind chill values” that could reach as low as 18 below and winds that could gust up to 25 miles per hour.

Temperatures in Woonsocket on Thursday night are expected to reach lows of 5 degrees with a real feel of 12 below, Accuweather reports.

Remember to bundle up: these wind chills could cause frostbite and hypothermia.

Blizzard conditions are possible with strong winds expected Sunday morning and into the afternoon. Minor coastal flooding may also pose a problem on Sunday.

This storm is just the latest in a string of major snowstorms to hit the area. Greater Boston has seen six feet of snow within the past three weeks.
