Thursday: City Jobs, Place Jolicoeur, Not A Crook

Happy Thursday - the weekend is two short days away. Grab some coffee, or some OJ, and check out these things to know:

City jobs - The Woonsocket Personnel Department is seeking to fill four positions: Water Heavy Equipment Operator, Water Division Meter Reader,  Water Division Meter Foreperson and Fire Alarm Superintendent. Visit the town's web site for full details. The deadline to apply for the positions is May 30.

Place Jolicoeur - Woonsocket Fire Cheif Gary Lataille has posted a letter of thanks to everyone who offered support for maintaining Place Jolicoeur on the Woonsocket Fire Department website. The letter ends with a paypal link for anyone who would like to donate to the cause to defend the war memorial from the demands of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Softball - Today at 4 p.m., head up to Cold Spring Park and take in the WHS Varsity Fastpitch Softball home game against Scituate High School. Batter up!

The bright side - Today will be partly cloudy and 71 degrees. It could be a good opportunity to have a look at some of the flowers that were liberally watered earlier this week. (That's watered by nature, not Liberals.)

Not a crook - Today in 1973, the Senate's Watergate Committee began its hearings on the burglary and wiretapping of the DNC headquarters, according to brainyhistory.com. Information revealed during the hearings helped lead to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's work on the story pointed to the White House's  involvement.
