Thursday Five: Budget Commission, Blood Pressure, Fireworks And Mill Work

The week is mostly over, but there are still some things to know.

So, the weekend is a mere two days away. Do you know where your five things are? Read on:

Budget Commission - The panel now charged with balancing the city's books and making all the spending decisions meets today at 3 p.m. Among the items on their agenda (see attached .pdf) will be a final reading of the Fiscal 2013 budget. Might be worth a visit, if you've got the time.

Blood pressure - The Woonsocket Senior Center is offering free blood pressure screenings this morning at 9:30 a.m. at their 84 Social St. location. Couldn't hurt to have the cardiovascular system checked out a little, especially with all the stressful news of late.

Fireworks - has announced the annual Patriotic Concert and Fireworks display will be held on July 3 at the WWII Veterans Memorial Park on Social Street. The concert begins at 7 p.m.; fireworks start around 9:15. Bring chairs and blankets. The event is sponsored by Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Hospital, local businesses and residents.

Mill work - Do you know anyone who worked in the Jules Desurmont Mill Complex? The Plastics Group, the company restoring it, wants to make a historical video with people who used to work there. Contact Greg if you can help.

Outside - Today will be partly cloudy and 89 degrees. Don't forget the sunscreen, though. Those clouds are just for show.
