1) Medicare: Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island will host an informational Medicare meeting for individuals who are about to be 65 years old and eligible to enroll in Medicare, and for those who are retiring and will no longer have health insurance coverage through an employer. Show up at the at 6 p.m. with a notebook.

3) Job: Applicants interested in becoming a janitor for the city have until Feb. 29 to apply. Applications and specifications may be obtained at the Personnel Office on the First Floor at City Hall.

4) End of an era: On this day in 2011, the last veteran of World War I, Frank Buckles, died in Charles Town, West Virginia at the age of 110, according to brainyhistory.com.
