Budget Commission -  The newly established Woonsocket Budget Commission meets today at 3 p.m., third floor of Woonsocket City Hall. The big thing on their agenda will be a discussion on whether to continue to pursue authorization for a supplemental tax.

Venus in transit - Venus will make a transit across the Sun today at about 6 p.m. It won't happen again in our lifetimes.

Classic cars - If you missed Cruise Night yesterday at Patriots Diner, you've got another shot, assuming the weather cooperates. The All Saints Catholic Parish in Woonsocket is scheduled to host a Cruisin' with the Saints modern and classic car event Tuesday evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. until dusk.

Rain, rain - Today will be 61 degrees, and rainy. Not ideal weather for a major celestial event, but hey, take your vitamins and maybe you'll catch the transit of Venus again in 2117.

A sad day - On this day in 1968, Sirhan Sirhan shot Bobby Kennedy, according to brainyhistory.com. Kennedy died the next day.
