Up To You: Ocean State Finishing

Before it was one of the proposed sites for the city's new water treatment plant, it was a dyeing facility for woolen goods, employing more than 80 people. 

Ocean State Finishing closed their operations at 413 Manville Road in September of 2002, leaving behind 65,000 square foot three story brick building on the 9 acre lot.

Woonsocket has more than its fair share of vacant buildings and empty properties. Some have been empty for years while others see a rotating crop of businesses.

But, if it were up to you, what would you like to see happen to these spaces? Each week, we feature one empty building, lot or area in Woonsocket and ask our readers what they'd like to see there.

A skatepark? A concert venue? A vocational school? What do you want? And, if you could get YOUR wish, how often do you think you would visit the location?

This week: the former Ocean State Finishing property. It was passed by as the site for the city's new water treatment plant, in part, over environmental concerns. What type of business could, in your opinion, appropriately fill this lot?
