Woonsocket Child Molester Gets 27-Year Prison Sentence

A man who sexually molested three young girls while living in Woonsocket received a 27-year prison sentence on Wednesday.

Superior Court Justice Netti C. Vogel sentenced David Girard, 35, of Dixfield, ME, to 60 years, with 27 to be served at the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.

He will spend the remainder of his sentence suspended with probation.

Girard was charged with three counts of first degree child molestation and three counts of second degree child molestation for molesting three young girls, ages 6 to 11, on several occasions between 2005 and 2012 while he was living in Woonsocket, the Attorney General’s Office reports.

The court put Girard under a no contact order with the victims and ordered him to undergo sex offender counseling.

Girard will be subject to lifetime community notification and registration and GPS monitoring once he is released, the Attorney General reports.
