Woonsocket Entertaining Deal to Sell Water to Invenergy: Public Hearing Friday
Invenergy has made an offer to the City of Woonsocket to purchase water to supply the proposed Clear River Energy Center, the mayor says.

WOONSOCKET, RI—A public meeting is set for Friday, Jan. 6 at Woonsocket High to discuss the pros and cons of a deal the City is entertaining to sell water to Invenergy, the company working on a controversial project in Burrillville.
The meeting time has not yet been announced.
According to Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, “after less than one month of closed meetings with the administration and the newly appointed council, representatives from Invenergy have made an official offer to the City of Woonsocket to purchase water to supply the proposed Clear River Energy Center project."

At Friday's public hearing, residents will hear the details and have an opportunity for questions and comments regarding the offer.
"It is of the utmost importance for Woonsocket residents to be fully informed and understand the details of the offer, and attendance is strongly encouraged," she added. "Further public hearing information will follow in the near future.”

The offer also "includes monetary compensation to host a Water Transport Facility within Woonsocket," she said.
