Woonsocket Man Sentenced To 9 Years On Child Molestation Charge
George Dugas, 56, will serve at least nine years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting a 13-year-old girl at a Woonsocket apartment.
WOONSOCKET, RI — A Woonsocket man who pleaded guilty to molesting a 13-year-old girl in a Bellevue Avenue apartment over the span of a year has been sentenced to nine years at the Adult Correctional Institutions. George Dugas, 56, was sentenced in Providence County Superior Court to 25 years, with final 16 years of the sentence suspended with probation.
Dugas was also ordered to complete mandatory sex-offender registration and counseling and have no contact with his victim. He pleaded to first-degree child molestation of the girl, who was known to him, during his trial on Oct. 11.
Detective Jamie Martin of the Woonsocket Police Department led the investigation into the case. Assistant Attorney General Shannon Signore prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.
