BB gun shooter admits mistake
On Tuesday at approximately 2:30 p.m. a juvenile, with his parents, turned himself in at the Woonsocket Police Station. Detective Peter A. Menard had set up an interview with his parents regarding BB gun shootings that occurred on Warwick Ave. in Woonsocket. The juvenile had previously been arrested on April 8, along with a friend, for disorderly conduct for shooting a BB gun. Det. Menard said, "I told the minor that I would like him to tell me the truth. He signed a rights form and told me that he would tell me everything that happened." The juvenile then told Det. Menard that the day he had been arrested, he had been shooting at the stop sign at the end of the street.  When Det. Menard asked the juvenile about the shooting of an unoccupied, parked vehicle, the juvenile confessed that he shot at the vehicle, shattering the rear window. The juvenile also confessed to shooting at a moving vehicle around the dates of April 6 and 7. The juvenile claimed that when the driver of the vehicle stopped and got out of the car, he and the friend he was with ducked down until the motorist drove off.  It was only afterward, he told police, that he saw the glass all over the street and realized he had in fact shot out the window. The juvenile said he was very sorry for what he had done and sorry for the grief he had caused his parents. He then signed a witness statement to his involvement in the BB gun shootings on Warwick St. The officers then advised his parents that he would be charged with firing a weapon in a compact area and vandalism. Once processed, he was released to his parents' custody.

On April 14, Patrol Officer John E. Raymond was working as the school resource officer for Woonsocket High when he was called by Assistant Principal Henderson regarding a vandalism complaint. Henderson explained that he was told by a teacher that Ryan Angelo Brochu, 18, of 487 park Ave. had put his fist through a glass door, breaking the glass. Henderson also stated that a teacher at the school, witnessed Brochu break the glass. Henderson further explained that he believed Ryan to have broken the glass due to an argument with his ex-girlfriend. With Officer Raymond present, Henderson called the ex-girlfriend into his office to question her. The girl admitted to arguing with Brochu, though she said she was trying to avoid him.  The ex-girlfriend stated that although she did not see Brochu break anything, she did hear a loud bang as she was walking away. By the time Officer Raymond viewed the damage to the door, a custodian had already taped it up with cardboard, concealing the broken glass. BCI Detective Robidoux responded and photographed the damage. Henderson stated he wished to file a formal complaint against Brochu for damaging school property. In an attempt to locate Brochu, two officers responded to 487 Park Ave. at approximately 8: 50 a.m., on Tuesday, April 19. Aware that Brochu had an arrest warrant for disorderly conduct and vandalism, the officers knocked on the door. When Brochu answered, Officer Raymond informed him of the active warrant, placed him in handcuffs, and transported him to the Woonsocket Police Station where he was booked and processed without incident.Â
