• Cayce City Council votes to rezone 45 acres to make way for 70-to-80 new single-family homes (westmetronews.com) — Cayce City Council has advanced a rezoning that would turn 45 acres on Lybrand Street into 70–80 single-family homes priced around $350,000–$400,000, far above current area medians. City leaders say residential use is preferable to industrial, and supporters argue the neighborhood near Six-Mile Creek, Memorial Drive, Airport Boulevard, and Highway 321 would generate more tax revenue.
   

• ‘We need help.' Copper thieves troll the Midlands targeting telephone poles (thestate.com) — Copper thieves using bucket trucks are hitting telephone poles and cell towers across Richland and Lexington counties, sometimes knocking out phone and internet service for entire neighborhoods. Investigators even note a recent arrest by Cayce police after a similar theft on Airport Boulevard, and warn residents to call 911 if utility workers or vehicles look suspicious.
