Charleston School of Law welcomes record 275 new students for fall 2026 (nationaljurist.com) — Charleston School of Law just welcomed its largest-ever incoming class of 275 students, many of whom will train in clinics serving clients across the Charleston community. The school has rapidly expanded hands-on programs and recently led South Carolina in bar exam pass rates, reflecting its nonprofit-era academic focus and growing regional impact.
   

2. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes major boundary expansions to 4 Lowcountry national wildlife refuges (live5news.com) — Federal wildlife officials are proposing major boundary expansions for four Lowcountry refuges, including Cape Romain, following a Charleston County finance committee vote that greenlit protecting Awendaw's controversial White Tract. The plan could add tens of thousands of acres for conservation, shape future development, and expand public access for hunting, fishing and recreation, with public comments open through Sept. 17.
   

3. College of Charleston named one of the nation's best colleges: The Princeton Review (counton2.com) — Charleston residents can celebrate that the College of Charleston has again been ranked among the nation's best undergraduate institutions by The Princeton Review, now for the 25th straight year. The guide highlights the school's strong academics and student experience, while leaders credit close faculty support and the Life Design program for helping students connect coursework to future careers.
   

4. CSU names Dr. Tim Griffin as new campus pastor, aiming to deepen student community (abcnews4.com) — Charleston Southern University in North Charleston has hired Dr. Tim Griffin as its new associate vice president for spiritual life and campus pastor, aiming to strengthen Christian community among students. With decades of ministry and higher-ed experience, he plans to reach students earlier in life to address spiritual and practical challenges before they become lifelong patterns.
   

5. North Charleston man arrested after high-speed chase, false stolen-car report, police say (abcnews4.com) — North Charleston police say a local man led officers on a high-speed chase from Dorchester Road into West Ashley, then later claimed his car had been stolen. Investigators report he eventually came to the police department and admitted driving during the pursuit. He now faces charges including failure to stop for blue lights and filing a false report.
