- This past Sunday, North Columbia residents came together for a "Restore the Village" walk, reminding the community to choose peace over violence. Organizers for the 2022 Empowerment for Peace Walk say that together, community members can bring about positive change in Columbia. The event was made possible through a partnership between The North Columbia Youth Empowerment Initiative and the City of Columbia, Columbia Police Department, Richland County, and the Richland County Sheriff's Office. - A young man in the Midlands is getting an early start in the business world. 14-year-old Lawson Taylor's new store, LT Toys and Stuff, is scheduled to open this March in the Broad River Road shopping center. Taylor, who plans to run the store while being homeschooled, has had previous success selling his toys at a local flea market. (WLTX.com)
- Columbia's own Harvest Hope recently received a $25,000 donation from Bank of America to fight food insecurity. The bank donated $100 for every BoA employee who received a COVID-19 booster shot and made a small contribution toward the food bank.
