• Club owner says Decker Boulevard shooting did not happen inside his club and is uninvolved (wach.com) — Eight people were hospitalized after a shooting early Sunday on Decker Boulevard in northeast Columbia, and investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened. The owner of nearby Club Hush stresses the gunfire was in the street near the Trenholm Road exit, not inside his business, while deputies have yet to release suspect or victim details.
   

• Former Gamecocks QB Stephen Garcia hosts youth camp ahead of surgery, cancer treatment (wistv.com) — Former South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback Stephen Garcia held a youth quarterback camp in Columbia even as he prepares for colorectal cancer surgery on September 22. He says working with local kids keeps him active and hopeful, and he's deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from Columbia residents and fans around the world.
   

• SC inmate who asked to be executed sues for access to mental health medication (newsfromthestates.com) — A South Carolina death row inmate housed at Broad River in Columbia is suing the state prison system, arguing he's being denied mental health medications that once helped him and could change his desire to be executed. The lawsuit claims policy changes removed effective drugs from the prison formulary, worsening his condition and amounting to cruel and unusual punishment under the U.S. Constitution.
