Christmas Trees, Oh Christmas Trees

The first weekend in December means it's time to leave Thanksgiving behind and start thinking about the next round of holiday fun.

It is also the most popular weekend for families across the country to pick up their Christmas trees. There are a number of Christmas tree farms and stands across the Midlands where you can cut your own perfect cedar, pine, cypress, or fir.

Here's a list of some of those farms, along with their with hours and options.

Old Congaree Run Tree Farm

Address: 219 Old Congaree Run  Eastover, SC

Hours: Friday and Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.  Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Trees: Carolina Sapphire, Eastern Red Cedar, Leyland Cypress, Virginia Pine, White Pine, Clemson Greenspire and pre-cut Fraser Firs. Fresh wreaths also available.

Price's Tree Farm

Address: 228 Maple Road  Lexington, SC

Hours: Mon-Thurs 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.,  Fri.-Sat. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.,  Sun. noon to 6 p.m.

Trees: Carolina Sapphire, Eastern Red Cedar, Leyland Cypress and pre-cut Fraser Firs. Also includes fresh wreaths and a gift shop/barn.

Old Barn Christmas Tree Farm

Address: 833 Old Lexington Highway  Chapin, SC

Hours: Mon-Fri 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.,  Sat 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,  Sun 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Trees: Blue Ice, Carolina Sapphire, Deodar Cedar, Eastern Red Cedar, Leyland Cypress, Murray Cypress, Virginia Pine, White Pine and pre-cut Fraser firs. Fresh wreaths also available.

Bear Creek Tree Farm

Address: 564 Amicks Ferry Road  Chapin, SC

Hours: Mon-Fri 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sat 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sun 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Trees: Blue Ice, Carolina Sapphire, Deodar Cedar, Eastern Red Cedar, Leyland Cypress, Murray Cypress, Virginia Pine, White Pine and pre-cut Fraser Firs. Poinsettias and wreaths available.

LeeLand Farm

Address: 1325 Cassatt Road  Cassatt, SC

Hours: Friday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Trees: Carolina Sapphire, Eastern Red Cedar, Leyland Cypress, Murray Cypress, Virginia Pine. Wagon rides available on weekends.

In Northeast Columbia, you can also pick up a tree at the Clemson Sandhill Research Center across from the . All trees are pre-cut.

In the St. Andrews and Irmo area, you can find a tree at the St. Andrews Optimist Club's Annual Tree Sale. The fresh-cut tree stand is located at McGregor's Presbyterian Church, 6505 St. Andrews Rd. Proceeds benefit youth in the Columbia area. Their hours are: 

Mon. - Fri. 4-8p.m.

Sat.  9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Sun. 1 p.m. - 8 p.m.
