Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Columbia Daily.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Columbia:

  1. Looking to adopt a furry friend this winter? Columbia Animal Services is hosting a "Home for the Holidays" adoption special, in which pet owners can adopt a dog or cat for $25 through Dec. 31. Columbia Animal Services reminds everyone that bringing pets home is a commitment, and pet owners should ensure their home is ready for their four-legged companion. (Abccolumbia.com)
  2. The South Carolina tourism industry is recovering after taking a big hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new study by the University of South Carolina. According to the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (SCPRT), tourism generated $24.4 billion in 2019, but the state lost an estimated $6 billion in visitor spending in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. SCPRT predicts a rebound in tourism in 2021, with about a 25 percent increase in revenue from 2020. (WBTW)
  3. The Richland County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help identifying those involved in robberies at two Dollar General Stores this month. Officials say the first incident occurred on December 8 at the Dollar General in the 2300 block of Decker Boulevard; the second incident occurred at the Dollar General in the 9200 block of Two Notch Road on December 12 just before 9 p.m. Deputies say they do not think the incidents are related at this time.
