  1. The Columbia Police Department is asking for the public's help finding a man who may be endangered. Soloman Shawn Thompson, 54, was last seen walking away from a friend's home at 607 Gabriel Street on Thursday. Thompson recently suffered a significant medical emergency and needs consistent care and medication; he is likely still wearing his hospital wristband, according to officers. Inmates at Kirkland Correctional in Columbia are getting the special opportunity to do something for the holidays they wouldn't do normally do: connecting with their young children through books. Through a program called "A Father's Voice," inmates with the South Carolina Department of Corrections can record their voices in a page of a children's book, then send the book to their little ones at home. The books allow the men to re-record and customize their messages to include prayers, words of encouragement, and even favorite memories. (WACH.com)
