Planning commission recommends denying Hindu temple rezoning request (wltx.com) — A Hindu temple in northeast Columbia seeking to expand along Two Notch Road has hit a roadblock after the Richland County Planning Commission recommended denying its rezoning request. Neighbors and nearby churches raised traffic and safety concerns on North Chelsea Road, and now County Council will decide Tuesday whether the project and road improvements can move forward.

SCETV to livestream annual Commanders Brief to the Governor on military concerns in South Carolina (holycitysinner.com) — Columbia residents can tune in as SCETV livestreams the annual Commanders Brief to the Governor on Sept. 23, held in the capital from 10 a.m. to noon. Military leaders from South Carolina bases and Fort Gordon will outline key issues affecting service members, families, and local communities, with state officials listening in.

South Carolina Lottery Powerball, Pick 3 results for Sept. 19, 2026 (greenvilleonline.com) — If you bought a South Carolina lottery ticket in Columbia, you can now check the Sept. 19 Powerball and other draw game numbers and see how to claim any winnings. Smaller prizes can be redeemed at retailers, while larger jackpots require mailing tickets or visiting the Columbia claims center with proper ID and forms.

Kamario Taylor, Mississippi State erase early deficit to drop South Carolina (statenews.net) — South Carolina fans in Columbia watched a wild one Saturday night as the Gamecocks squandered a 16-point lead and fell 41-34 to Mississippi State at Williams-Brice Stadium. Despite piling up 431 yards and a strong outing from quarterback LaNorris Sellers, turnovers and a huge second-half surge by the Bulldogs spoiled USC's bid for a 3-0 start.

What your neighbors are talking about on social media
- Steve, the owner, came out to the house originally and walked the roof, telling me what he found which I knew to be true.
My insurance company refused to cover it, so Steve wrangled with them telling them replacing it was absolutely necessary. SIx months of that, and I… (Nextdoor Wood Greene) - Just picked up this little old girl wandering around Gatewood.
