Here are the top 3 stories today in Columbia:
- The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the presence of an earthquake in Columbia on Monday afternoon. The 3.3-magnitude seismic event is tied for the strongest earthquake in the state this year and is reported to have been felt by more than 872 people. No damage or injuries have been reported yet as a result of the earthquake. (The State)
- A pedestrian has died after being struck by two vehicles in Richland County on Sunday. The crash happened on Kennerly Road where the victim, 47-year-old Timothy Wright, was pushing a disabled moped where he was struck by two oncoming vehicles and died at the scene. The drivers involved were wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the incident. (WIS10)
- The Columbia Animal Services holiday adoption special will continue through the end of the year to help more shelter pets find permanent homes. All pets at the facility will be up for adoption for an adjusted price of $25. Anyone planning to attend the adoption event should be prepared to wait in line and bring a face mask and valid form of ID. (ColaDaily.com)
