Jackson Creek Elementary School fifth grade teacher, Susan Stokes is 2021 South Carolina D.A.R.E. Educator of the Year. D.A.R.E. is a Drug Abuse Resistance Education program that provides comprehensive drug prevention curricula to students throughout South Carolina classrooms and around the world. Stokes is an expert on the “ Teaching students how to live drug-free and make good decisions for a healthy life is what Stokes enjoys most.  “I am greatly humbled by this recognition. Last year was filled with challenges, and our students had to make so many adjustments. The D.A.R.E. program offered an opportunity for them to achieve some sense of normalcy. It was a pleasure to work with Deputy Gibson to ensure that the students of JCE had the opportunity to complete the program,” said Stokes.  Dr. Sabina Mosso-Taylor is principal of Jackson Creek Elementary School. “We are delighted to learn that Mrs. Susan Stokes was selected as the South Carolina D.A.R.E. Educator of the Year. This recognition is a result of her dedication and commitment to all of the students she serves here.” Richland County Sheriff’s Senior Deputy Will Gibson is the School Resource Officer at Jackson Creek. Richland Two partners with the sheriff’s department to administer to the program.
