Electric City Playhouse Volunteers for Habitat for Humanity
Electric City Playhouse partners with Habitat for Humanity
Electric City Playhouse (ECP) in Anderson has dedicated its current theatrical season as the "Season of Gratitude". To celebrate its 35 years in the Anderson community, ECP is working with charitable partners for its 2019 Season productions.
For "Tuck Everlasting" in January, ECP hosted the young people and houseparents of Calvary Home for Children in Anderson (calvaryhome.org). Battle Buddies was the partner for "1959 Pink Thunderbird" in March (battlebuddiessc.org). ECP volunteers and patrons learned about Battle Buddies during theatre visits from Battle Buddies founders Jo Anne and John Creed. ECP raised more than $500 for this excellent non-profit during the run of "1959 Pink Thunderbird".
The good efforts continued with "Life's Stages" in April. "Life's Stages" showcased new work by two local writers. Additionally, ECP volunteers and patrons purchased delicious goods and contributed to a great cause when Ivey's Cookies held a bake sale to raise scholarship funds for ECP's Summer Youth Theatre Workshop. This year's Workshop is Disney's "101 Dalmatians Kids". Registration ends May 31. Details at https://ecplayhouse.com.

Coming up next for ECP is "The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!)" ECP's community partner for this production is Habitat for Humanity of Anderson. While the Ingénue in“Musical...” comically struggles to pay her rent, the reality of housing difficulties is no laughing matter. On May 4, 2019, "Musical..." cast members and ECP volunteers helped with site clean-up and neighborhood landscaping in an Anderson community in which Habitat for Humanity is building homes.
