Laughter a Key to 62 years of Marriage for One Greenville Couple
Rolling Green Village Couple Will Celebrates Valentine's Day Ahead of 62nd Wedding Anniversary
It was love at first glance for Susie Culp some 62 years ago. She was actually dating another man when she met Ebb, but says she knew immediately that “Ebb was the one she would marry.” About four months after that day, they were hitched, and they’ve shared a life of love and laughter ever since, including this Valentine’s Day.
The Culps say patience and understanding for one another have gotten them through thick and thin. The couple had three kids in a period of 27 months, a challenge that helped build their bond with one another. They still go out to eat every Saturday night and participate in various social activities at Rolling Green Village, the senior living community they’ve called home for two years. The couple has a great sense of humor, and they say “lots of patience and understanding” is also the secret to a long marriage.
Research has consistently shown the benefits of marriage at any age. According to studies, people who are married are more likely to live longer, be happier, be mentally and physically healthier, and recover from illness quicker than their unmarried counterparts.
