• Sheriff IDs man accused of shooting at deputy outside Richland County elementary school (wistv.com) — A school resource officer at Horrell Hill Elementary in Hopkins initiated a lockdown after shots were allegedly fired at her from a truck outside the school on Monday. No students or staff were hurt, and the suspect, a 44-year-old man with no known school connection, was later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and now faces attempted murder and weapons charges.
   

• Car crashes into deer and trees then flips over, killing driver, SC cops say (thestate.com) — A driver was killed Monday night after hitting a deer, then crashing into trees and overturning on Harmon Road near Kirkbrook Lane in the Hopkins area.
