2 Streets to Close Saturday for West Lexington Neighborhood Block Party

West Lexington residents will come together Saturday for a block party, complete with a cookout and music. 

Portions of Hendrix and Gray streets will be closed from 2 to 10 p.m. for the 4th Annual Neighborhood Block Party. 

Hendrix Street will be closed from Jessie Street to Gibson Road. Gray Street will be closed from Thompson Street to Walker Street.

The gathering started four years ago when West Lexington residents decided to have a neighborhood get-together and a reunion for people who used to live in the area, said Lt. Matt Davis with the Lexington Police Department.

"Every year it gets a little bigger and a little bigger," Davis said.

Between 400 and 500 people are expected to show up this year, he said. 

West Lexington is the neighborhood behind on West Main Street.
