Blood Drive Draws 105 Units

Drive conducted by Lexington Sheriff's Department and Red Cross helps address critical shortage

Citizens and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department employees donated more than 100 units of blood at a blood drive that the Sheriff’s Department conducted in partnership with the South Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross on Jan. 19, according to Sheriff James Metts.   

Metts said 105 units of blood were donated during the drive. The Sheriff’s Department regularly conducts blood drives in cooperation with the American Red Cross. Since 2006, blood drives that the Sheriff’s Department has conducted have resulted in the donation of a total of 1,304 units of blood to the American Red Cross, Metts said.
