Chapin Woman Killed in Single-Car Wreck

A Chapin woman died in a single-car accident Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Margaret B. Fulcher, 70, of Chapin, was driving a 2001 Lexus in the 1300 block of Dreher Island Road in Chapin when she ran off the right hand side of the road and overcorrected. She then ran off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole and a large tree, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 12;45 p.m. According to Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman, Fulcher was transported to Lexington Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 1:55 PM.  

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the S.C. Highway Patrol.
