Convicted Killer Sentenced to 40 Years
Man shot victim in the neck at close range in a Lexington County bar
William Mark Brockmeyer, convicted of shooting a man in the neck at close range in a Red Bank bar, has been sentenced by a Lexington County judge to 40 years in prison, The State reports.
Brockmeyer, 25, shot and killed 24-year-old Nicholas Rae with a pistol in July 2010 as Rae was passed out in a chair at Jager's Bar. Brockmeyer, found guilty after a four-day trial, had once been cellmates with Rae in a Florida prison, the paper reports.
The killer reportedly shot Rae after the victim had told two of Brockmeyer's girlfriends he was dating other women, and after Rae had also gambled away $300 of Brockmeyer's money playing pool, the paper reports.
