Davis Named LPD Officer of the Year
Winner is also named commander of department's Special Operations Division
The Lexington Police Department recently presented Lt. Matt Davis the "2011 Officer of the Year" award.
As stated by his peers in their nominations, "Lt. Davis is a supervisor who leads by example, who is respected and well liked. He treats suspects, victims, and the general public in a kind and respectful manner."
Davis started with the Lexington Police Department in 1996 as a Patrol Officer. He worked his way up through the ranks and was promoted to Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Division in October 2006.
He serves as a Hostage Negotiator, Driving Instructor, Ground Defense Instructor, the Department’s Public Information Officer, and is on the Crimestoppers Board.
On January 1, 2012, Lt. Davis began his new duties as Commander of the Special Operations Division. Matt and his wife, Sandra, live in Lexington with their two sons and a daughter.
