Update: Lexington Wreck Kills 37-Year-Old Father, Injures Two Others

The Lexington County coroner has identified the man killed in Tuesday crash on U.S. 1

Rush hour turned deadly in Lexington on Tuesday evening after a two-vehicle collision killed a local man and injured two others.

According to Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman, Brady Davis Weed III 37, of Lexington, died at the scene after his 2006 Toyota Avalon was hit by a 2008 GMC four-door pickup, driven by James Furman Prescott, 32, of Lexington.

Prescott, who was driving eastbound on U.S. 1, crossed the center lane and struck Weed's vehicle head-on, said Lexington Police Lt. Carroll Bledsoe, Jr.

The wreck happened around 6:05 p.m. Tuesday as Weed was traveling westbound in the 1200 block of West Main Street/U.S. Highway 1 in Lexington.

Weed’s nine-year-old son, Drew, and the driver of the pickup were transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time, Harman said.

The collision and its aftermath closed down the roadway between Gibson Road and Farr Road for several hours Tuesday night.

Bledsoe told Patch no charges have been filed yet. The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the Lexington Police Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT team.
