Heads Up: Jail Siren To Be Tested Next Week
In case of jailbreak, Lexington County authorities want to ensure warning measure is operational

If you live on or around Gibson Road in Lexington -- and plan to sleep in the day after Labor Day -- don't be surprised if you are rudely awakened.
The Lexington County Sheriff's Department says correctional officers will activate, "briefly," an alarm siren at the Lexington County Detention Center at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 in order to test the siren, which would be used to alert nearby residents in the event that an inmate escapes from the jail, located at 521 Gibson Road.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said administrators at the jail periodically activate the facility’s siren in order to ensure that the siren is working properly.
